Prices & Grants
A decent return on investmentYou can typically expect to pay between £3,000 and £4,500 to install solar water heating into an existing property (less for a new home). Given that you can hope to save around £200-£300 annually, this produces a rate of return of 5%-10% (even more when you factor-in the increased life expectancy of your boiler): much better than the net rate achieved in a savings account. You can further improve your return on investment by securing a grant.
You can apply for a DTI grant of £400
Ecologistics is a fully accredited installer under the DTI’s national scheme – the Low Carbon Buildings Programme. Not only does this ensure that you can apply for the grant on-line, but you also benefit from the quality assurance and best practice that the accreditation demands.
Local authority grants
Several London councils have significant local grants for solar water heating, although funding on some schemes can run out quickly. Because Ecologistics works only in London, we are familiar with the schemes run by many of the Boroughs and can help guide you through the approval process.
